You're thinking of DigiQ. It's badass but $$$$

No idea... Mine came from my ex's kitchen when she had new countertops installed. I'd imagine a lot of people keep the cutout thinking they'll make an end table or something, but I'm sure some let them go. Contact any granite countertop installer or your next friend remodeling their kitchen.

DigiQ sounds familiar. Isn't everything associated with a BGE $$$?

pretty much but the DigiQ is really a luxury, not a need. The Maverick works well enough for me and is a fraction of the costs. I'd rather put that $ towards a table

Nice table. Just needs a finishing.

The electrical outlet is a great idea.

A couple of thoughts on granite:

The granite on the table will a lot of weight and could make it harder to roll tyhe tanble around if it is on wheels. Also, if you plan on cutting on the granite the hard surface will damage your knife edge. My entire top is a slab of granite and looking back I would not do it again. That bitch is heavy. I will add a pic to this in a few so you can see the granite. Also, that is a maverick on the left and the base is on the right for the OP that asked.

I see a couple of mixed drinks and a rouses steak. What I don't see is a bottle opener on that table.

So you'd keep it wooden and and just put a nice stain on it?

I would stain it or at the least seal it. You don't want grease stains.

BIL was actually supposed to put on one, he must've forgot. I very rarely drink beer though... But I'll probably still mount one on for guests.

I wasn't thinking of a complete granite tabletop, just an 18" x 30" area. I thought it would be good for food prep and putting hot items down on. I hadn't thought about it dulling knives...

What about a big square plastic cutting board that can be removed for cleaning? Kinda like this.

Just to go in another direction, if he has an electrical outlet nearby, I'd suggest a small shop vac instead of the ash tool. Also a thermapen. And since you love your BIL so much, may as well throw in an adjustable rig as well.

If storing lump charcoal outdoors I've had good luck with the 80 pound dog food container with a Gamma Seal lid. Keeps the charcoal nice and dry.

Thanks to everyone who contributed suggestions and ideas. I appreciate the input. BIL's egg will get delivered on Monday. He's going to have to spring for his own DigiQ (or similar)!

If you're passing through Rye, NY; follow your nose and tell the short guy from South Carolina that you know White Roach. Dinner, and cocktails, are always delicious!

Definitely the plate setter. Also get some oven mits and a thermometer like the maverick et 732. I wouldn't bother with the upgraded grate--I've got one but have never used it to be honest. Maybe throw in some lump charcoal (personally I'd go with royal oak lump from Walmart--same as the bge version). I've never used my handler either.
