Best burger in Shreveport is Fully Stacked or Papas.
Youree drive is falling apart because there's too many damn restaurants. Period. I've been predicting this for years. The city has to realize at some point new buildings aren't needed when there are a bunch right up the street that are vacant.
Bossier needs to figure this out for hotels.

We had Smashburger's St Patty BOGO today, the patty was puny, the tomatoes razor thin and dried out(like cut a day ago), haystack onion rings were puny, cold, and greasy(hours old)...
Whole Foods in Towne Center serves a totally superior larger burger for the same price..with organic fixings..
Smashburger-BR will close down eventually, if the traffic I see there doesn't improve..the product is very inconsistent and seemingly getting worse.

Grub Burger > Twisted Root. Ki > Don Juanz but DJ's queso is awesome. Nicky's steak fujitas are excellent. Imperial Kathay is still going strong on Youree...took my wife on dates there while we where in college at Tech in the late 80's.

I switch back and forth on liking Grub or Twisted Root more. Grub is always juicy and flavorful, but they overload the salt (coming from someone who almost never cares about salt content). My go to at TR, the Kevin bacon, is always solid, they just sometimes cook the patty a little longer than my liking.
One burger that doesn't get near the credit it deserves is Superior Grill. Absolutely huge burger with great grilled flavor and homemade fries for $12.
I think comparing Ki and Don Juanz is a little silly. They are different styles in my opinion, each doing what they do well.

I'm not paying $12 for a hamburger in Shreveport.

To be fair, it's two meals worth of food.
And if you go to Grub or Twisted Root and get burger and fries, it's going to be around $12.

Stone Fork has a two meal burger for about $12 on their lunch menu. Very good.

Great if you have someone to split with, but leftover burger sounds gross.

I usually get drunk on the margs (girly, I know) and then scarf down the whole plate like a fatass. Then 2-4 hours of regret and self-loathing.

Went by this weekend. The staff was clueless. It's not that they were unfriendly, it just seemed like high school kids who didn't know what to do.
It's a shame because they make a good burger. But I don't think I'll be back after that experience.

As long as this thread is revived, add to the list of the closed places Grimaldis (what were they thinking building in an old mall?), TGI Fridays on Youree, and Boneheads (on Youree). All closed in the last few days.
I will miss Boneheads.
I will miss Boneheads.

We went once, not too long after it opened a couple of years ago. They really dicked up our order. Left toppings off my burger and my medium fries were the same size as my wife's small order. The people next to us ordered shakes and it was taking forever -- like we ate our entire meal while they waited. The manager was getting on employees for screwing things up.
Sounds like things haven't changed. There are just too many other good burger places in town, like Curbside, Mooyah, Burgersmith, Red Robin and Five Guys.

Wife showed me a video the other day from the Times with all the recent restaurant closures. Interesting. Is it real estate issues or more to it?

It's too many restaurants. The city planners of Shreveport could learn a lot by watching some YouTubes on city planning or even playing Civilization a few times. They keep supporting these new shopping centers, and shockingly every 10-20 years those go out of style and consumers move elsewhere. Well, the new shopping center is down by Forbing. Youree was way overbuilt and now all the money for city infrastructure is wasted. Shreveport's footprint has grown massively in 49 years but the population hasn't. At some point the city planners will stop capitulating to the latest real estate developer and actually put some effort into keeping up a nice downtown retail area(Whole Foods!) or telling people "No, you can't build x there, we've already got a shitload there already."
Who am I kidding, no they won't. Shreveport is a sinking ship just like the rest of the state.
