OK. Just got some turnip greens out of the freezer and heated them up. These are greens from our garden which I picked, triple-washed, tore and stemmed carefully, cooked and froze a few months ago. About to eat them and lo and behold there is a WORM in the pot! He is an organic worm from my own yard, and I obviously just missed him rolled up in a leaf. I kind of want to throw up and toss the whole pot of greens out. Another part of me really wants greens and figures I did not actually eat him and he's just a little extra protein anyway. So I do the logical thing...post on F&D.

I know, tl;dr, but opinions on WWYD appreciated.

The likelihood of any detrimental effects from the worm are mostly nil. The mental notion of fear is your enemy.

Throw him away and eat the rest. Survivorman, Bear Grylls, and Andrew Zimern eat way worse.

dont worry about it... you could wash them 10 times and there's still a good chance of having some type of bugs, or grit... think of it as seasoning..

Smoke some cigarettes. The smoke will suffocate the bacteria in your stomach.

AH! That's the rationalization that will do it for me.

The greens are all gone...I overcame!

However, I have been paranoid about foreign objects in my food ever since I found a used band-aid in my salad in a local restaurant a few years ago.

I considered eating the worm greens a type of therapy.

Thank, but I hate those. My old grandmother in Abbeville used to boil those down, along with mustard greens too. Stunk up the whole house, had to leave. To this day that smell sickens me.

wonder how come the old folks used to boil everything down to mush? It took me many years to try turnips that were still chewable and recognizable as turnips... squash, cabbage, etc. etc...

See my post above -- the greens and a goodly wedge of cornbread are gone. Apologies to the third world babies.
