1. Magazine Street shopping (her request)
2. Hyatt Regency
3. Commander's Palace
4. Brunch the next morning at Atchafalaya

The rest I've chosen on my own. Just a one night stay, work and family life back at home await us.

What am I missing?

Kind of looks like you are just bragging to yourself or something since you are just doing one night and have this already lined up.

No, not at all. I'm open to changing dining reservations - not able to change hotel.

I booked Commander's because it's the one restaurant we have never been to.

And I booked Atchafalaya as it appears to have great brunch reviews. I looked at Arnaud's and I couldn't get over the prices they were asking. Rib Room was my second choice, but I believe my wife will like the menu choices at Atchafalaya better than Rib Room.

Looks like a great plan to me. If you have the time after dinner, go to the Ritz to hear Jeremy Davenport

We just did the same thing. We've been to Commander's a few times so we tried Restaurant Revolution this time and had an amazing meal!

I absolutely love commanders! Perfect for anniversary meal! If they still have the peach bourbon upside down cake for dessert, get it! In fact both of you get it. It's that good.

Will, do you two do Mardi Gras at all? If so then try out the Red Carpet Botique on Magazine. I let my wife go wild in there for our Ball each year. They're extremely popular in NOLA and their staff sees their dresses on everyone. They're also expert seamstresses. My wife has always loved their input, trying on the dresses and then having me stick it out for an hour or so and giving her my input.

If you do anything formal that's a great idea, especially considering it's the offseason so you'd get some more personal attention.

Rum House is on Magazine and that's a great idea for a lunch break from shopping.

I'd also suggest Nadeau's and Discoveries Furniture on Magazine if she's into that kinda thing. They have the same sources overseas-just different buyers that don't like each other LOL-so they have an oftentimes similar aesthetic. Nadeau's is usually more competitive from a price perspective.

Don't sleep on Frenchman Street by the way. Nice shopping and eating and drinking there as well.

Oh and one wildcard: Look up Joe Dun. He's a photographer with a gallery on Royal Street in the Quarter. I think it's in the 300 block. He splits time between Mobile and NOLA. He curated Stanley's with all nautical and train-themed black and white, and has done work for other local eat and drink places. We stumbled across him on a day trip and I'm staring at four pieces of his work on the walls in my living room as I type.

If you're on Magazine during the afternoon, take her to happy hour at Salu.

If all of your events planned are Uptown why stay at the Hyatt?

Priceline. I made a low ball offer on a 4.5 * rated hotel (according to their standards) and it was accepted.

Yes, in the past, but not so much today with two small children.

Nonetheless, I am writing down all of your suggestions. Appreciate the tips.

If you find yourself near the hotel and want some drink, Cellar Door had a really cool vibe to it. Kind of a speakeasy type joint with a nice little courtyard.

Didn't try the food there.

Gotta love that blind booking.

On a side note, NOLA vs. BR vs. Houston in regards to inner-city [car/taxi] travel is so interesting.

In Houston, it is nothing to stay an hour away from where you plan on hanging out. Every time I go into Galveston, people are surprised I don't want to drive 1.5 hours to get a beer with them. It is just so normal to them to do that.

In BR, people don't like to go TOO far, but pretty much everywhere takes 20+ minutes with our traffic anyway. Hopping from LSU area to Garden District to Downtown to Towne Center is no big deal. It's a decent little split between people that don't mind driving from Denham/ONeal/Central/etc. and people that like to live right in the middle of everything, but most BR folks don't mind a drive/ride to another area of BR.

In NOLA (or at least in these types of threads), people have told me several times that hotels on Poydras are "so far" from where someone wants to hang out. When realistically, Hyatt on Poydras mapped to Uptown NOLA on Google Maps is 2.8 miles
