Mine were all planted in the spring. I don't know if that's the "best" time, but they all survived.

I bought one from Saxon and Becnel nursery in Belle Chase last November. They told me to wait until the last frost to plant it. Here's a link to their planting instructions. It doesn't mention when to plant. Planting

Best time is when you have time to do it. I did landscaping for years and we planted all sorts of trees all times of the year. All did about the same, how you plant is more important than when.

First off make sure you get a satsuma.

I bought what I thought was one from a credible nursery and after 3 years in the ground I have my first fruit. Definitly NOT a Satsuma. I have what seems to be a sour orange.

I planted one about a month ago, guy at the nursery said they were fine to plant then. Don't expect to get fruit off the tree for over a year, maybe 2...

Best time is fall. You can do it now. Water it every three to four days, once a week use miracle grow. Protect it with warm heat during freezes while it's young or it won't make the winter.

Now till before spring.

This is the correct answer, may still be 2 or 3 weeks early though.

First 2 years is what my Uncle taught me, otherwise you going to have a 7' tall tree with 100 Satsumas and it will stay a 7' tall tree with 100 Satsumas for years.
