My Sister in Lake Jackson, TX tells me they ventured out to attempt a trip to their storage facility to see if their Daughter and DIL's Wedding dresses were off the floor of an otherwise flooded storage unit. The storage facility was closed and locked up, but the Shipley's donut place was open.

I would have stopped to purchase all of the Blueberry Donuts they would sell to me. Life is uncertain and you must take advantage of any good things that might occur at any moment.

On another note, they and my brother's family are all ok. My Duh comment is they say here is lots of rain. Nieces and Nephews in Pearland and Houston say the rain is coming down hard and steady as it has all night.

Kroger is out of bread, milk, water, gas, bla bla bla. Buckey's is out of gas. I didn't ask about Bucky Nuggets. If you ever had them you might understand why I would want to know. Buckey's was supposed to have gas today. Maybe they will bring more Bucky Nuggets with the petrol.

So far OK. Sister & BIL on NE side of Lake Jackson have not lost power at all and have had around a foot of rain.

Brother and his wife 5-6 miles away toward storm are fine so far. He writes that their power has gone off and on several times over night. Funny things. The house across the street from them in their neighborhood is on a different feed and has never lost their power. Brother writes that the power just came back on. He wrote that he has gas stove and as long as he can make coffee, they are fine.

Sister just reported that the Kroger is right now restocking their shelves with bread. Hard to imagine sometimes how strange our country is compared to much of the world. (They ran out of bread yesterday as the storm approached and have bread this morning to put on the shelves in the middle of a Cat 4 Hurricane.) Weather Channel shows pictures of Galveston, TX with an EXXON Gas station across from the beach open and doing business (folks at GAs pumps) as the gulf water across the highway is nothing but whitecaps.

We are somewhat concerned about Niece and Husband in Houston in town neighborhood as they are really getting hit by heavy rain, that will not stop for some time.

I lived on That Way for about a year. Buckees breakfast and fishing at the mouth of the Brazos were the only two things that kept me sane in that shithole.
With that, I hope all come out the other side of this ok. I was one of very few that was required to stay in town (BASF) during Rita. Looks like this one will be multitudes worse than that one was.

Buc-ee's being out of gas is amazing. I can't find the article now, but I recall reading that the average Buc-ee's has to be filled multiple times a day, requiring them to precisely manage a large fleet of gas trucks.

Here's a current Forbes story on the chain: Turn down your speakers, has a stupid auto-play ad

My brother was a Dow research guy (Urethane). My sister worked for a plastic surgeon in Lake Jackson and her husband was a pacemaker guy with Intermedics in Angelton and then Medtronics when they bought out Intermedics and then Air Liquide in Houston.

Lake Jackson is a company/industry town. That's for certain.

Up until a couple of months I spent the last 3 years or so in the Lake Jackson area. Nice little area. I actually still have a crew working there as well. Love Bucees too.

Your family must've been the one or two people I saw riding around with MSU license plates on their vehicles.
Hope all is well with everyone down there.
