I haven’t been since it reopened and am going to be in Baton Rouge next weekend. How is it in general and is the fried cheese what it used to be?

I've heard from quite a few people that the service is on the decline.

Go to Willy's on Coursey for Seafood in BR. They have good boiled options as well.

I mean its okay I guess. Its not what it once was back when Sammy's was at peak goodness which imo was around mid 2000's. I'd rather go to pretty much any other place in the city that serves the same type of food (The Chimes, Dempsey's, Elsie's, Eliza etc...)

Went last week. The shrimp salad was absolutely horrible. Shrimp looked and tasted like they came out of a can.

Not sure if you've had them in a while but I fixed it for ya. They're good but not the traditional logs like Sammys

Don’t go. It sucks now. If I’m in that area and I want that kind of food, I’m going to George’s Southside

I usually sit in the bar when I go, and I’ll never understand why they don’t put a huge sign up that says BAR and/or like a sidewalk sign that simply says HOST STAND with an arrow pointing to the other entrance.

They went years without a sign at all, and all day long the bartenders were shouting at patrons standing around that the restaurant is on the other side. Finally they made signs but it’s an entire paragraph message taped to the door on small paper in small font.

So you still have people standing there confused all day and night long.

Absolutely.

I'm wondering how they'll do with the new Prairieville location they're currently working on in the old Porch Light restaurant spot.

I hope not, that location is cursed. Every owner has a fly issue, tear down that building and start over.
