Just had lunch there. Ate the roux burger. Very good and all ingredients seemed to be very fresh. Great atmosphere. Sat at bar and the wait staff was very nice and polite. Even though they have only been open for five days they really have it together. I live close by so its good to have a great option especially considering what was in the space prior.

Definitely recommend

That's just the typical response when someone comes on here praising a new place

To be expected ever since Opie and his buddies used to come on here and pump up the slop Opie dished out at his old place.

Went for dinner Wednesday night with the family. Looks nothing like Boutin's on the inside, which is a plus. Initially told a 15 minute wait, but we were seated 5 minutes later.

Beer selection was above average. Got a Founders Nitro Oatmeal Stout and later an Abita Wrought Iron IPA. $5.50 craft beer pints isn't a bad price.

I split the fried shrimp loaf with my 9 year old daughter. The shrimp were huge, but fried nicely. I would have preferred smaller shrimp and more of them instead of fewer jumbo shrimp. The fries were fries, but cooked well enough.

The wife got the shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake. It was really good. Not a huge portion, but very filling.

Older daughter got a cheeseburger. Half pound burger appeared to be cooked a perfect medium and the bun at least looked to be high quality. She ate half and took half home, but I didn't get to try it.

All in all, there was a bunch of stuff on the menu that looked interesting and that I'd like to try. I'll be back, as it's close to our house.

That's not true and you weren't around when he had Opie's unless of course, you lurked for a billion years or you're an alter.

The large shrimp in the loaf appeal to me. I prefer the larger shrimp so I can taste more shrimp than breading. Never have been a fan of a bunch of the small shrimp on poboys. I think I'm in the minority, though.

He still posts. Chicken gave him a new name. Actually, I don't recall him selling his restaurant here. He answered questions when asked, but I never saw him promoting, plus he was posting in the name of his own restaurant, so it's not like he could have posed as a customer rather than an owner. The whole post above is just stupid.

Not a troll or an alter. Lurked for years. And it is true. While Opie may be a nice guy the food at that restaurant was bad. To this day I don't trust a single restaurant review on this site because of the BS posted on here about Opie's. It all came from his buddies. I also know Chicken made him cut it out or start paying to advertise.

Probably shouldn't hang around the food board anymore.

No, it's not true. What you initially posted is not why people assume someone posting about a new restaurant is the owner. You're dead wrong on that.

He wasn't advertising here, but he did talk about his restaurant when asked. That wasn't Kosher, apparently. He complied when told as I recall. Chicken changed his name and all is well, so don't start crap you know little about.

I never ate at Opie's so I can't comment about the quality of the food. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. There are many restaurants discussed here on which people do not agree about quality and flavor.

Go play on another board. You don't trust the folks here so there's really no reason to read or post here.
