Restaurant or not...asadero is what we call it and I've been half border jumper all 22 years of my life.

hated it.

Went there yesterday afternoon and the Carne Asada was aweful. I dont care about the money, Id rather eat at a 'real' mexican place like Ninfa's or Superior Grille insead, because I have better taste than to eat at some recycled taco bell with green and red walls.

Signed,

Catman88.

Yea cause I always say how good Superior is

Dumb frick I prefer the hole in wall places because I hate tex-mex. Generally the small places offer authentic mexican food.

Menudo is supposed to be a hangover cure, which is why Juanita's always offered it on the weekend

I'll eat the cow tongue tacos, but I'm not big on cow stomach.

Ha...tripe doesn't bother me...it's the fricking hominy corn that I find to be utterly disgusting. Another good hangover cure is the liquid left over from the ceviche.

How much steak was on there compared to a burrito from someplace else? I know the chicken was generous, curious about the carne asada.

Just ate at Taco and Burrito Express for lunch, and it was excellent. I had the chicken King burrito dinner with a Mexican Coke. Best lunch I've had in a long time.

Chicken burrito kicked arse, a lot more chicken on it than any other burrito I've had elsewhere.

And Zilla, I haven't eaten at that other place yet.

I went back today because my wife wanted to try it (she loves authentic mexican food). This time I got the steak burrito, and it had less meat (more beans, lettuce, and sour cream) but was still good. The chicken burrito is still better.

I've noticed that people aren't leaving a tip for the waitress/cashier. I guess people think it's fast food because of the building, but it's a full-service restaurant. Absurd not to tip.

Today I ordered at the counter and she told us to sit down. She brought it out for us and even brought the ticket and took our money and brought back change.

Yesterday we ordered and paid and sat down, but another waitress brought us menus and asked us what we wanted to drink (she didn't realize we already ordered).

PS. the "Mandarin" Mexican soda is great if you like natural flavor. Not too sweet, but there's actual sugar in it. All the Mexican sodas are superior for that reason. I'd actually drink soda more often if that stuff was easily accessible.

All the waitresses there had waited at one place or another in town before, so the guys that eat there are familiar with them. But some of those guys aren't the best tippers, the fact that there's a counter to order at probably confuses everyone. You can order at the counter at Juanita's or La Tiendita, but I only see guys doing that if they want their order to go.

I've tipped those same waitresses pretty well at the other places they work, they're good at remembering what you like.

Got the King Chicken Burrito today. Good call.
For $5, the burrito was huge and absolutely loaded with Chicken. I'm blowed up now.
Much better than Izzo's at a better price.

Nice to hear that they're being consistent with the burritos. I suppose the benefit of places like Izzo's and Qdoba is that you're waiting less time and you can simply point out what you want or don't want, but I'd just as soon get a bigger burrito with more meat. Plus it's nice to get shredded or chunks of chicken instead of cubes of the stuff.

This place makes me pissed at Izzos for giving so little meat.

Nice find Afreaux. I wouldn't have known about this place, and now I'm going to try to be a regular customer.

FWIW, I'm cool with the owner Ozzi (Izzo's is his name backwards), so I'm not really trying to knock his place. Izzo's is good, it's close, it's fast, and it's convenient to get a wrapped burrito that's easy to take on the go. But the quality of the food is different, which in all fairness, we're comparing a fast food place with a restaurant. I'd probably prefer to drive to Sherwood if I'm in the mood for a burrito.

I'm going to swing by there Friday or Saturday to try some new stuff, see what their lunchtime crowd looks like.
