Frickin' THIS! They have changed the menu around three times since football season started.

Someone needs to sign up to work and report back...but, they will probably have to sign their life away first.

Heck, it could be OMI. That location has had many issues over the years.

It should be. But Robert Irvine can't fix Barry's Italian temper. He makes great pizza, but his demeanor and inability to trust anyone to be a general manager is killing his business. Tried to get a gift card for someone for Christmas. He won't let his server ring up a gift card and was too backed up in the kitchen and pissed off about it to get it. So he missed out on that business from me. And I was dining in. I hate to see him fail, but he has no clue how to run his business.

I just looked at the menu. It must take all night to prep that much stuff. How big is this place? It must have a huge staff.

It's a small place. We went once a year or so ago and the food was pretty good. But we haven't been back since. It is kind of a ways away from where we live, and if we're going to get pizza, we usually go to Fleur de Lis or Pastime

The Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible” show, hosted by chef Robert Irvine, will tape an episode Jan. 9-10 at Mama Della’s N.Y. City Pizzeria, 8190 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.

The show features Irvine trying to save America’s most desperate restaurants from impending failure in just two days with only $10,000. The show airs on Wednesday nights on the Food Network, with this episode airing in the fall or winter of 2014.

The network is seeking volunteers to help renovate the restaurant over the two days. Volunteers will be painting, crafting, construction, remodeling, cleaning and decorating. Skilled contractors such as electricians, plumbers and painters also are sought. Meals will be provided to volunteers, who need to be comfortable with being on camera. Volunteers are asked to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers or boots with no logos.

Work shifts will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. If interested, email twentz@shootersinc.com by Monday, Jan. 6 with your preferred shift or shifts, full name, email address and cell number, with a subject line of FN BATON ROUGE VOLUNTEERS.

There will be a grand re-opening at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. The public can make reservations for the night by calling Mama Della’s, (225) 448-2979.

Usually on Restaurant Impossible Irvine trashes the food. I've been to Mama Della twice for take out and haven't been back, but I remember a lot of folks on this board enjoying it.

Does he say the food sucks? Does the FDB lose it's place on the culinary pedestal because Irvine says the food is no good?

I don't give a two shits about Robert Irvine's opinion of Mama Della's. His show is a lame rip-off of Kitchen Nightmares. The crap he does every episode with the decorators rushing to finish the interior of the restaurant is weak sauce. And he needs to buy a shirt that fits him in a color other than black.

I love Mama Della's...he may rip the not crispy crust, but I think it's gonna be one of the few where he enjoys the food. I mean Barry cuts his own basil as he needs it. The guy takes a shite ton of pride in his food. He's gonna get ripped for not letting his employees do shite, the non-existent decor, and the fact that he's a total jerk with no idea how to run his restaurant. When they fill the place for that first service, all twelve tables of it, and he can't get pizza out to ten of them, because he frustratedy tries do everything himself/his awful time mgmt, Robert's gonna get after him.

Anybody gonna go volunteer.

Sounds exactly like someone they strive to get on these shows.

The only reason I don't ever think of going here is because the location sucks! They should find a better spot and it would do fine IMO.
