I'm going to a conference in NO tomorrow and need some recommendations. I'm staying at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are plenty of good restaurants in New Orleans. Do you prefer a side of murder or violent assault?

If you're at the Hilton, just go down and eat chargrilled oysters at Dragos.

You can walk to a bunch of great restaurants in the quarter - Mr Bs Bistro, Brennans, GW fins, Muriels, Palace Cafe are just a few.

As an appetizer, then go somewhere else for an entrée

Yeah there are 100 better restaurants than Dragos, especially that location

No there's not. Name them.

I will freely admit, most of the food at Dragos is a waste of time and money. But those chargrilled oysters are spectacular.

I don't understand people being blown away with chargrilled oysters. We buy a couple boxes of oysters a few times a year and make all sorts of grilled oysters...but I'm not picking a restaurant because I they make them. It's a fun thing to make with friends and I love them, but Dragos (I give them credit for inventing them)...frick that.

Drago's right down stairs. I am a fan of Drago's so I'd be hard pressed to go elsewhere if it's just one evening you are eating there. If it's several, do want to travel or stay close by.

Morton's and Manning's are a short walk away if a steakhouse is what you want. The Mike Anderson's, Palace Cafe and Dickie Brennan's are within walking distance for me, as well. There are several more really good places to eat close by.

Pascal's Manale is a place I also really like that is worth trying if you're willing to take a cab/uber someplace.

Are you looking for any particular type of food, type of restaurant, cost considerations, dress???

If you like oysters, I also recommend going to Drago's for the chargrilled oysters for a snack or an app.

Take a look at Peche for other seafood, Cochon Butcher for great sandwiches...there are so many restaurants.
