Good Choice. Stop one block before you get there - on the right - Oteece Richard's meat market and get you 3 or 4 fried boudin balls as an appetizer

Had some of these this weekend.

I'd recommend these places:

Social-Great small plates
Ruffino's-Pork cheek app is awesome
Pamplona-Tapas place with pretty good drinks
Fat Pats-Burger place
Johnson's Boucaniere-If I had to go to one place on this list this would be it. Great sandwiches, plate lunches, and boudin.
Old Tyme-Good poboys

If you want boudin balls I'd suggest Billy's in Scott, just off of the interstate.

If you do make it south to Abbeville definitely choose Dupuys over Shucks. Shucks sucks.

I'll 2nd (or 3rd) the recs on Billy's for boudin, Riverside Inn for seafood, and Fat Pat's for a burger.

I'll throw in Crawfish Tyme on Verot School Rd. for boiled crawfish and grilled oysters.

I've been impressed with Mazen Grill on Johnston just past the Mall.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like it all, but I'll be with a couple of guys who probably won't be too adventurous. Can't wait to get there.

I just haven't enjoyed Shucks the last few times I went. Is Riverfront open yet? Will they open?

Just curious -- what other seafood buffets are you comparing it to? House of Seafood? White's? Lafleur's? I've heard mixed reviews of Lagneaux's buffet in the past.

i guess my comment was more about what you get for the price. quality was great. never been to the other ones mentioned.

Co worker of mine went to Lagneaux's a while back and didn't enjoy it much. But then again he wasn't looking to eat anything fried, which I'm sure made up the majority of the offerings.

Last time I went it was a weird set up. Basically a smallish room with tables and a bar. The menu was limited and the food was cooked out of a food truck in the parking lot and brought in by a waiter. This was probably a year ago, so I'm not really sure if they've built a fully functioning kitchen yet.

EpicCajun just described River Front. Fire in the kitchen a while back caused this issue.
Shucks is still a big room pumping out fried food and oysters from the kitchen

Audio tech for the Sunbelt Conference Women's Softball championship games. Will be there for dinner tonight. Looking forward to eating my weight in crawfish, shrimp and anything else I can find.

Had a fine meal in Dupuy's several years back. Went through a mess of oysters many different ways.

Shucks is cool if you want oysters and just about anything else that can be fried.

Dupuys is better for just about everything else Cajun.
