Easy answer: Galatoire's. It is a gigantic party on NYE. The quality of the food and service does not go down because of the occasion since they are used to serving celebratory crowds. They do not take reservations so get there early, sit downstairs and the table is yours for the night. Leave at 11:30 and walk to Jackson Square to watch the fireworks.

We did Nola several years ago on NYE. It was pretty good.

Meh, NYE has always been one of my least favorite "holidays" or night out. Too many amateurs out drinking and being asses.

I'd second any recommendation for The Pelican Club.

Same here. If I happen to be in town and not have something to do, only place I'm heading is a neighborhood restaurant/bar.

Servers don't want to be at work.

Cooks/chefs don't want to be at work.

Sue and Henry can't understand why their table isn't ready yet, and refuse to move away from hostess stand.

Ronnie keeps yelling at the bartender to get Kimmy another Cosmo and keeps dropping the F-bomb because he doesn't stop what he's doing immediately to get her another one.

Makes me want a drink just thinking about it.
