I had the chance to get to Red River's new tap room this weekend. I think they have done a really nice job on the inside of the place. I believe they are set to have the grand opening in a few weeks and think they will start advertising it here pretty soon. There was probably a steady number of about 200-250 people through out the day. The beer was great and the atmosphere was great as well. I'm glad they have it up and going and looking forward to spending some time up there.

I'm looking forward to checking out the place

I trust that these guys know good beer, but as of right now, they really haven't put out anything great

the saison they made last spring was their best beer I have tried from them

I'm curious to see how they do. GR has established their brand and it the place to "be seen" in Shreveport right now. I wonder how much of that RR can steal. What are they going to offer that GR doesn't already offer?

They have a great setup and I really like the location. The beer that I tasted was really good. River Monster was my favorite but I liked the Lemon Jack IPA(can't remember the exact name). Those guys busted their asses getting that place going and I think the in-town friendly competition is going to get both breweries to turn out some great beer.

I really enjoy Great Raft products but I will definitely be drinking some RR as well.

different beer, but seriously they each have there own beers and if you like one over the other that's just preference. I don't go to a spot to drink beer and "be seen", I like to go and have a good time and drink good beer. Plus competition is always good for business.

He mostly only cares for big, bourbon barrel aged stouts. That's probably his chief complaint.

me and you might not, but go to GR on Saturday night and look around at all the chicks, they are not going for the beer

I like good beer. I probably prefer more farmhouse/saisons if I had to choose a preference. Hay Ryed is what it is. River Monster is awful, or at least the last iteration I tried of it. Maybe they have changed it since then. Their session IPA was good. And like I said, I thought their saison was good as well.

I'm not writing them off or saying they won't be successful, just that GR has a 2 year headstart on them and I'm just curious how well they will do in a year or so.

But hey, Flying Heart appears to be doing fine and their beer is awful, so maybe I'm over analyzing all of this

definitely could work

although I don't know if their are any restrictions on how late a brewery taproom can stay open or whatnot in Shreveport

No clue... went to Dallas not too long back and wanted to stop, but they weren't open either time.

ETA: Sunday especially, would have loved to stop if they had been open around noon.

EATA: In BR taprooms operate under the same license as a bar, so same allowed hours.

I don't know how much business they are going to "steal". I think Shreveport can support another brewpub, or two...

then if its the same in Shreve, that is certainly an area where RR can benefit

and Jax, I agree that Shreve can support more taprooms, and I definitely want RR to succeed, just wondering what they will offer that will be different, or what direction they will go as a brewery

Glad it's not just me. I'm not a "beer guy" though. I'm happy with a Michelob Ultra.

I still occasion there. It's a convenient location and that area is about to have a gentrification smack down.
