Recommend me a dual zone wine cooler for under $250

Hopefully someone can recommend a decent one that won't die after a year

TIA

Bartles & James Exotic Berry

Edgestar model TWR215ESS. 21 bottle dual zone wine cooler. Bought it for the wife lady & she really appreciates it's ability. Holds 6 wines in the upper region which she keeps at 56F for whites and 15 in the lower at 64F for reds.

Had to replace one of the circuit boards earlier this year because it is in a small room, the heat was on, and the door was closed. $50 part that ships pre-wired was as east to replace as turning a few screws and twisting a couple of wires. No complaints

Dont take this the wrong way, but...

No one really needs a dual zone wine cooler. The difference is so minimal and keeping your reds at a colder temp or whites at a slightly higher temp, if you arent aging long term just isnt really worth it. Of course its better to probably err on the side of cooler storage, but just dont think you need a two zone cooler. Especially if you dont have more than say 50 bottles of each type of wine. And then you'd probably do better having two coolers.

I keep my wine outside in the sun. I feel it really brings out the tannins

We've got a 32 bottle that we keep around 59-60 degrees. Perfect to keep both whites and reds.

Yep. That's probably the perfect temp all around. Ever seen the cellars which have an independent cellar inside of it to keep super old wines from changing at all (think they keep them somewhere right above freezing)? Since this isnt the OT, I doubt anyone needs that level of sophistication.

Thanks for the input, gonna ditch the two zone idea and just get a regular one

have one like this. No problems. When it goes bad I'll get another. Good deal with 10% coupons floating around.

About 8 years ago, I bought of Craigslist essentially a fancy dorm fridge. I have been storing wine in it since then with no problems. It has a temperature gauge on the inside and the warmest it gets is mid 50s. Holds 30 bottles paid about $50 for it.

Can also buy a mini-fridge and mount a temperature modulator which adjusts the power going to the cooling unit in order to keep it at a particular temperature.

The lesson? There is often a cheaper way to get what you need than buying the exact thing you want.

Where do you keep it though? A wine cooler can look nice in the kitchen. A mini fridge can look dorm roomy.

Thats a good point. Store mine in a backroom/mudroom off the kitchen. Most people have a spare closet or garage/shed to park it. Probably a better use than crafting supplies or shoes you wont wear ever again.

Gotcha. We keep ours in the kitchen because it looks nice and fits perfectly on the side of the island. Might get a mini fridge or a cheap bigger one for the garage but that's for beer
