Mouton.

Using a TDEE calculator tells me I should be eating 2600 calories a day (at least) since I'm working out 5 days a week. Thoughts? That seems excessive.

You should not be considering your calorie expenditures.

It is.

That's how I've always done it. There are 2 lines of thinking about that and I was just curious to see what Mouton thought.

I try to follow "if you're not hungry, don't eat. If you're hungry, drink a glass of water and wait 20-30 minutes. If you're still hungry, eat" kind of thought. When I do that, it works well. I don't always do that, though. I'm a snacker.

I dont think you should count energy expenditure. I also think most people can initially lose weight with a lot drastic of a calorie cut.

My calorie count for today will be 1609. That is a pretty typical day on the plan. On days that I workout, I add an additional protein in the form of a protein shake...that would up my caloric intake to 1720 on the day. That doesn't really seem to be super low or anything.

Seems low to me but everybody is different. I weigh a hundred pounds less than you and I cut at around 1800 calories.

6'2 260 and my BMR is 2455.6. So, to lose 2 pounds a week I should be eating 1955.6. Not counting energy expenditure.

That's about what I eat.. I'm doing 1800 but that's more for some cushion in case I eat 100 cals more or less.

Dude, you know I have been riding your arse forever. There is no reason you shouldn't be sitting at a healthy and happy 220. You know more about this than anybody.

You want to lose that last bit? Stop eating pizza and drinking every week.

I know. I did well last weekend and I feel really good about it. I plan on being good until I head to san fran in 2 weeks, then I'll be tasting beers and not eating very well. But I'll be exercising to hopefully offset some of it, as long as I don't go crazy. Then I plan on not drinking and cheating until Thanksgiving, then Christmas, etc. I figure if I don't cheat every week, then I can enjoy myself during the holiday season without feeling too guilty, and still keep the weight off.

And with Myth and CAD absent from this thread, it's up to us to keep the torch going.

Have you tried incorporating a fast day once or twice a week into your routine?

I have before. I liked intermittent fasting, but it became a burden because my schedule rotates.. trying to figure out when I should eat, when I shouldn't, when I should work out since you're supposed to work out fasted, etc. Just more complex than I anticipated. And I've only tried a 24 hour fast once and didn't like it much.

The first couple of times you try a 24 hour fast it can be tough. If you eat a decent meal in the morning and just hold off the rest of the day until the next morning its not that bad. If you are having trouble cheating over the weekend, try fasting the Monday after a cheat and maybe the Friday prior.
