And while we're on the subject don't sleep on Old Rail's pumpkin beer when they release it this fall. It was my favorite pumpkin beer I had all last season.

Good to know

I get this from a business standpoint. But for me personally I'd rather wait for a good pumpkin beer rather than purchase something crappy just because it's one of the first ones released. In fricking July as it were.

Pumking isn't crappy IMO, I actually think it is one of the better ones.

Didn't say it was crappy. Was speaking to early releases in general and how just because something may be one of the first ones out doesn't mean I'm going to rush out to buy it based solely on that - I prefer to wait for better quality.

There are several good ones...

I'm partial to the barrel aged pumpkin beers.

Good Gourd Almighty was great, Avery's Rumpkin is superb. I liked the SA version too..

I'm not sure where I am on this one now. I used to love it. The last time I had it, though, I was really unimpressed. I'm not sure if I just got a bad bottle or I'm experiencing a shift in my palate. I'm leaning towards the latter, but I kinda hope it was just a bad bottle because Pumking was one of the easier Pumpkins to get here.

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me this, I would have enough to buy a pint of a shitty pumpkin beer.

Well for sure don't try the New Belgium take on the style. Awful.

I will say that I got a bottle of this last year from Dean and it was incredible. The best pumpkin beer I've ever had, and it's not even close.

Good gord almighty was pretty freaking awesome.
Pumpking has fallen out of favor with me. Tastes too buttery or butterscotchy or something. Can hardly get down a much of it these days.
Pumpkinator is still good with me.

They actually had a lips of faith version of their current beer a few years ago that was really good. It was called Kick. The new one is the mass market version called pumpkick.

Never had kick, but Pumpkick was what I was referring to. Not a winner.

Kick was very good. They also had one out at the same time called clutch that was good.

I've tried several pumpkin beers and am not a fan. I did try one that I didn't think was terrible, and that was Elysian's Night Owl. It tasted just like pumpkin pie. It still wasn't good enough to where I will look for it.

I won't be buying any Pumking. I had 2 last year and told myself those would be the last.

It definitely seems like the quality of Pumking has gone down the last couple years. With that said, I will probably buy 1-2 just to see if things have changed. Regardless, I think there are worse pumpkin beers out there.
