Place your order, get a number, put number card on table or pick up when called

Is that so complicated? What is with fast food or fast casual places asking your name or wandering around aimlessly asking each table whether this is their order? Am I missing something? Even frickin Taco Bell is asking for a name. Wtf

People throw their receipt away and cause problems.

You are over estimating the average idiot customer. Most of them completely forget where they are after they order. Many of them are on their phone. Few of us are attentive.

So why punish those of us that know how to function in society? I've almost never had a problem receiving the correct order in that scenario. Each time I go to one of these fast casual pizza places, they just go table to table and ask "are you John, etc" Everything goes to shite if two people with the same name order close together.

Ok so Jimbo playing on his phone doesn't pick up order 19 when it's called. That's his fault. He suffers the consequences. When Mike 2 steals Mike 1s order, an innocent man goes hungry.

Never ever underestimate how vile and foul and malicious the general public can and will be.
A lot of places used to us those little number stands. A lot of places used to spend a lot of manpower cleaning those little number stands too.
Turns out those little number stands were a health hazards. Not talking just from multiple hands all over them, try kids chewing them, bums wiping their mucus and other secretions on them, teens sticking them in their pants then back on the table...
Still interested in little numbers on your dinner table? There's more, and worse, to still describe....

I've observed all that I noted in various establishments across the country. Very common for little kids to chew on the numbers. Very common for stupid teens to do stuff like blow their noses on the numbers or stick the numbers down the back of their pants.
Saw a pretty nasty wino looking guy use one of the old number stands as a back scratcher, inside his shirt.
