I love the place. Avoid the apps. get saurbraten (the only one in town) or the veal parm. The sauce is sweetend by onions, not sugar.
Ignore the haters. It is good if you oredr corectly.
Not a ginos, but unique in its own way.

I just ate there last night...pretty good food. I had the eggplant parmesan and my gf had the spinach ravioli. No complaints about the food. Service, however, was very very very slow.

I went to Pinetta's for the first time this past week. I had heard good things from friends and read mixed reviews on this board. I wanted to give it a try and the wife was all for it.
Quick & easy review: The wife and I weren't impressed. I actually like the small "hole in the wall" atmosphere so that didn't bother us. The service was pretty bad and the food was average at best. Maybe my expectations were too high or maybe I caught them on a down night. There are several better options in BR for Italian. The veal parm was pretty good, but nothing special. The wife had some ravioli that didn't impress. The experience wasn't bad enough for me say I wouldn't go back, but I am definitely in no hurry.

this is kind of my view of the place. i dont think its a horrible place that needs to close down, but i dont understand the people who raved about it because i wasnt impressed enough to return & spend my money at that establishment.

you been to digulio brothers, ll?

It is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. I eat the veal parm and/or the sauerbraten washed down with a jug or two of chianti. The apps suck.
They are the only alpine restaurant in BR, so give them a break.
With that said, if they were located any distance from my house, I probably wouldn't eat there.

Worst sauce in the city. Great pizza and nice apps. If I could combine the best of both places, we would have something.

Yes ma'am. When Chelsea's is closed or packed, Digulio Bros is my backup plan.

Everyone might shoot me in the head for this, but I like Monjuni's. I know lots of people who despise it, but their sauce is sweet and I really enjoy it.
I've never been to Gino's. Brag is dying for me to try it.
Thusfar, my favorite Italian red sauce is Little Village.

I don't think anyone really respects your opinion on here.
Where else in this city can you get schnitzel?

Pinetta's has a great sweet sauce as well, but they do their's the natural way--cooked down onions. Monjuni's opens a jar of their corn syrup laden sauce.

Because I don't like Pinetta's? Who the hell are you to say if someone respects my opinion? Besides the fact that I've never seen you post on here before, I don't really think you're inside everyone's head knowing whose opinion they respect.
If you like Pinetta's, great for you. But plenty of people don't and it doesn't make my opinion invalid.

This was always secretly the best dish at the place. Used to serve it with these killer riced potatoes.

After reading the mindless drivel you bombard this board with constantly, I just assumed everyone felt this way.
And you've probably never seen me post because I usually steer clear of threads you frequent.

I'm talking about food on here. How is that any more mindless than what anyone else talks about?
