I've never been there and am thinking about checking it out today for lunch. I've heard that their tamales and BBLT are legit. Any advice/suggestions?

Service is usually awful but the food is very good. BBLTA, tamales, burger are all good.

Yay.

It's good. The BBQ sauce is a little different, and I'm not sure I'm crazy about it. It's not bad, just not my preference. Brisket is very good and the tamales are great too.

OK, went for lunch today. Had the BBLTA, tamales, ribs, wings, mac n' cheese, and sweet potato. I'm no expert on tamales, but I enjoyed them. The sandwich was pretty good, nothing mind-blowing, but pretty good. Didn't care much for the ribs -- they had a strange cut and just didn't stand out. Wife enjoyed the smoked wings. Mac n' cheese was alright, kinda bland, with a lot of black pepper. Sweet potato (which was smoked) was very good. Honestly I didn't care for the sauce, either -- it had a "fizzy" taste to it which tells me that it is starting to ferment from sitting in the bottle too long. Sweet tea was great. There was really nothing which made me want to go back anytime soon, but it was a nice break from the norm.

I haven't eaten there in a while, but their brisket was always one of the best I've ever eaten.

Ate there yesterday. I'm an absolute brisket hound and do a lot of smoking at home so was excited to see a BBQ place I'd not yet tried.
I was very disappointed. So salty I could hardly eat it and was not even warm. Portion size very small. The mac and cheese was average. The beans tasted like canned. The service was horrible. I was told one of the owners recently died and the other is trying to carry on but consistency seems to be a problem.

Our service was pretty bad. As for brisket, my go-to is Firehouse in DS/Watson.

Used to go there for lunch. Food was always good and the service was always terrible. I got the sidewalker burger, I think. Pretty good.

You should just stop by here. My backyard smoked brisket is second to none.

And I'll even give you a couple free beers....

Had it catered at the office. Really not impressed. Also had cou-yon's from port allen. Best local brisket IMO.

Well that's sad, I hope they can continue but it sounds like the quality has gone downhill.

I've only sat at the 'bar' so I guess I've never had service issues. Love those smoked wings.

Service has always been pretty bad for me too. It's never very busy either, so I don't get it. Last time I did go I do remember the food being luke warm. That was a first, so maybe it is going downhill, I was hoping that was just a fluke.
