Funny that Thai Kitchen and Phil's basically just swapped into each other's previous locations.
I don't know any of the management personally, but I think everyone should at least give this guy a chance to open his doors before deciding he's a failure. He might be a douche, he might not be. At least give him a shot is all I'm saying.

Baton Rouge could use a top notch oyster bar. I'm curious to see if the new place will be more up to date or will it stick to its old thematic presentation of a simple dive place.
I loved Phil's. The poster above who compared it to Felix's in New Orleans is spot on. Felix's benefits from being in the quarter and having a nostalgic following.
If Phils tries to rely solely on the nostalgia of it's name, it will probably fail. The nostalgia won't work alone especially since it's not even in the old location. But if they serve top quality food, at reasonable prices (Baton Rougeans are cheap) with a good atmosphere (very key) it could work out.
