I wanted the "Grilla Silverback". My wife bought me a Traeger and I love it. No problems at all so far. We cook about 3-4 times a week with it.

I have a pellet smoker conversion kit on my WSM 22". I had never used a pellet smoker before this one, but the ease of use and the quality of the smoked meat is fantastic. It isn't as smoky as the meat coming out of my Primo. That is a pro for some , con for others.

I don't own or have ever used a,Pellet Grill but when I was considerin getting one the research I did was the best you could get was either a Yoder or Rec-Tec.
Both or priced out of you budget but you get what you pay for.

Another great option but it is expensive is a Memphis pellet grill. Very expensive but great quality from my research into pellet grills.

I started this thread last year and went with the Yoder, I could not be happier.

It is one of the few purchases that I have made that delivers exactly what it says without any muss or fuss

It is also so simple to use the wife uses it as an outside oven. Simply set the temp and forget it.

There are likely several more economical brands that work just as well but this thing is so well built that it likely last several lifetimes, at over 400lbs it is recommended to just pick it up by the wire racks.

Just saw a commercial for Cabelas Pellet Smoker. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of these or should I stick with the GMG Daniel Boone?

Don't know anything about them, when researching for my own purchase read a lot of good things about the GMG'S.

That window in the Cabellas model will be a solid black heat sink pretty quickly I imagine. JMHO

Was thinking the same thing about the window. Was intrigued by the Cabelas grill because it looks to have more cooking area than the GMG DB at the same price point. Also seems to be fairly new so I'm guessing the jury is still out on its performance, reliability, ease of use, etc. Was dead set on the GMG until I saw it.

I believe the Cabella smoker is a rebranded version of the Camp Chef pellet smoker that I own. I like it a lot because I can set it and basically forget it. Also there are times when I want to change the temperature during the cook. The cleanout at the bottom is really handy. It doesn't have digital temperature control but it works fine for me. I don't know much about the GMG smoker, but I can vouch for the Cabella/Camp Chef model.
