I got the $700 traeger at Ace. Works great just no wifi. Don’t need it at home really. My FIL has the recteq American it’s awesome. Either the traeger or recteq and you can’t go wrong.
My buddy bought that Weber and had a ton of issues.

Rec Teq all day every day. I've had a 700 going on 3 years and not a single issue. Customer service is best in the business if needed as well.

Best I ever saw was MAK and it’s expensive
All stainless and it’s bulletproof

I have a Recteq 700. Best grill I have ever owned. You would not regret it if you bought one.

I originally wanted to get the Camp Chef, but could not find them anywhere in stock and they were on national backorder. Also looked at Rec Tec and they seem like the most bang for your buck as far as quality goes. My cousin has one and he loves it. I am impatient and couldn't wait for the RecTec to come in. So far, My Traeger has been flawless on cooks and zero issues. I also looked a Grilla Grills. They look like a quality pit. None of them really give you good quality smoke like an offset does though. I have a homemade offset so i'm all set. I just like the convenience of the pellet grill.

My pitboss has become a huge pain in the arse. At first it was great but now the pellet motor will not stop feeding the pellets to fast. It chokes the fire and forces me to take out all the grill grates and unclog the center
Mine did the same thing during a long cook. Now I clean it out every time and it’s a bit annoying. Should’ve gone with the rectec

I have the Rec Tec 700 at home and it’s built like a tank. Also have a very large Camp Chef at work and I like it a lot. Also have a ZGrill at the camp. You know for a person on a budget that ZGrill is a fine no frills pellet grill and it’s pretty darn sturdy. That ZGrill came with an insulated cover to use when it’s cold and really helps that thing stay warm and not burn up a bunch of pellets. They all work great.
My buddy has that sear side box on his Camp Chef and in theory it sounds great but not a way I would go. Seems like it’s hard to keep it clean. If you want to sear something buy those sear grates.

I’m curious about pellet grills. I have a Weber kettle and for everything but the longest of cooks it’s pretty much set and forget.
My Weber is over a decade old and is getting a little rickety, so I was looking at replacing it and looking at other options. What’s so great about a pellet smoker compared to a kettle? Also are you SOL when power goes out?

I have a Silverbac by Grilla Grills and it is awesome. Like a Traeger but built a whole lot better. The quality is far superior to Traeger and Z Grills.

I bought a Pit Boss, because a didn't know if I was going to like smoking on a pellet grill. I think ours is a year old now and does a fine job. Not a lot of smoke, if you like heavily smoked meats, so I bought A smoke tube and that did the trick for me. I clean that pellet fire box area every other burn and it has worked great. This thing is a knock off pellet grill and I would not compare it to higher quality grills, but it is a nice entry level grill.

I just ordered a Smokin Brothers Premier Plus 36. They are made in Missouri.

I was deciding between the Grilla Grills Silverbac and the Recteq RT-590. Both are great Grills and great companies. They just dropped the price by a 100 dollars (the RT-590) so I might be getting that soon..

I did a lot of research on this topic and for me it came down to Rec-Tec and Camp Chef. I ultimately chose Camp Chef because I felt I could get more bang for my buck with the Sidekick.
I love my Camp Chef. I cook on it 3-4 a week. Its convenient to be able to smoke / reverse sear my steaks all on one unit.
I can smoke a steak on 225 until internal temp is 115 and then sear it on the sidekick griddle. Perfect every time.
Not to mention all of the normal smoking.
For anybody that's not getting enough smoke on your pellet smoker just add a smoke tube. They are cheap and you already have the pellets.

I have a Pitts and Spitts 850. I ordered directly from them and had it shipped from Houston. I wanted all stainless, made in the USA, and built like a tank ( 7ga body, 10 ga lid). They checked all those boxes. I looked at Yoder and Mak. Didn’t like the Yoder (painted body) and Maks well they didn’t make the cut. I went by Pitts and Spitts workshop and I got a little tour. It was expensive but I’m using the heck out of it.

Everything this guy said about Camp Chef. I debated between the Camp Ceh and a Rec Tec and ended up buying a Woodwind 36 in March of this year. I've put over 400 pounds of pellets through it and quite literally could not be happier with its performance. It's probably one of the best purchases I've ever made.
