Thinking about going Saturday or Sunday for the first time. Has anyone been before and if so how is it?

Looks decent on the website. I plan to go if for no other reason than to get a good lunch.

Why someone thinks showcasing oysters at precisely the wrong time of year to showcase them in any way furthers the oyster industry in Louisiana is beyond me. This festival should be in November, December or January.

Agreed. If the oyster is the reason, then the festival must be in season...Can I get a "HELL YEA"???

I went last year. It wasnt quite what I expected. Its basically just a bunch of venders selling specialty foods. There was a band playing the day I went.

There werent too many places to sit when I went last year so we had to eat standing up. That was the only complaint I had.

I would imagine the reason why it is in June is because it is a new festival and there aren;t a lot of weekends available to do it where they want. Just guessing.

Well real reason is same behind most festivals, lure tourists to New Orleans when they really don't want to come.

but if that is the case just throw up some stages and have a mini French Quarter Fest. Dont sully the oyster.
