How many drinks do you think the average person drinks at a Rehearsal dinner?

probably no more than 4. anything more than that and you're just trying to booze up for free.

Rehearsal dinner it's probably not more than 4-5 in my experience. The reception, though, all bets are off

I'd figure 4-5. But go a little overboard on the beer and wine in the event you do run out of booze.

Where is your rehearsal dinner? This seems high to me and I live in San Francisco.

I'd figure about 2 drinks per person in the first hour. 1 per hour, thereafter. Based on that, probably an average of 3 to 3.5.

I'm planning one and this is what I was told as well. This average includes non-drinkers.

Are they wine, beer, or cocktail drinkers?

For a three hour dinner, I'd calculate 1.5 drinks per adult (who drinks) before dinner, 2 drinks/adult during and after dinner. So about 3.5 drinks on average (I'd probably budget for four just in case).

The guys who drink six jack and cokes during this time will be balanced out by the lady who drinks two glasses of wine. For me, I'd probably drink a cocktail before dinner, and about half a bottle of wine during dinner.

Exactly. The non or not much drinkers will balance out the heavy drinkers.

Seems high to me too, but all the places we received quotes from all charge about the same. Not sure but I think a bottle of wine is around $27.

What does the quote include? Liquor only or the glasses, bartenders, gratuity, tax etc...?

Isn't open bar usually a flat rate per person?

I would figure 4-5 per person and compare the venue's cost for open vs. your estimate for a consumption bar.

When I did an event recently I asked the bartender at the end how much the bill would have been if we did a consumption bar vs. what we paid for an open bar. We actually came out right about even. We had a group of 20 and 8 didn't drink. The other 12 though were booze hounds.

Rehearsal dinners I've been to have not been quite the party the reception is, so you wind up drinking less.

That said, I've only ever been served beer/wine, not cocktails.
