Mexican restaurant On the Border permanently closed Monday after more than 20 years in business.
Tim Armour, the kitchen manager for On the Border, said restaurant would shut down after Monday night’s New Orleans Saints-Minnesota Vikings game. Armour said the restaurant’s landlord exercised an option not to renew On the Border’s lease.

I ate there a couple times, not a terrible place. They had some nice trim waiting tables.

The fact that a 119-room hotel is going up next to On the Border was one of the factors that led to the landlord's decision not to renew the lease, Armour said.
Seems like that would add at least a little business.
Personally, it was one of my favorite chain Tex-Mex restaurants.

I always figured the hotels on Corporate were what kept the place in business.
Guess the landlord feels like he can make more money with something new.

I would kill for a place like that (just sort of good basic pedestrian Tex-Mex) in the New Orleans area. Seriously.

My point remains standing.

It's at the very least as good as On The Border. You set the bar pretty low

That sucks. I like On the Border.
Sidenote, I'm glad South of the Border in St. Francisville isn't closing. If I ever decided to do some armed robbery that's where I'm going to start my career.

I'll miss their queso. The rest of the menu was nothing special imo but that queso was damn good.

I always thought their store brand chips were pretty good for bagged chips

I remember having a nice grilled yardbird at their BR location some years ago.

You could have told me it closed 5 years ago and I would have believed you.

Is the New Orleans superior really that bad?

For the $150 in cash from the lunch receipts? Seriously, how much money could they really have?
