Really the only place I can think of that would challenge it is The Red Maple
Not even in the same hemisphere. The only place that I can think of that would come close in terms of food quality would be Saffron NOLA, but still think O'Brien's is a better fine dining/special occasion choice.

How daring.
Hate to break it to you, but not many steak houses are daring. They usually have pretty close to the same menu. Good steak houses thrive when they have good cuts of meat, and they do them well, and can also offer some seafood items that they do well as well.

It's comical that you think you're dropping knowledge with this post.
I was commenting on the boring repetition across New Orleans restaurants of a fried piece of fish topped with crab meat and a rich, butter sauce. Steakhouse or otherwise, I don't find that kind of dish worth $30 bucks.

I've not been to O'Briens, but those prices are on par with any of the finest restaurants in town.
I would have a hard time dropping that kind of coin on the Wank.

I've heard it's good, but it sounds like a place that should be in New Orleans. I'm not interested in fine dining on the Westbank right next door to a daiquiri shop and a storage place.

I find that it's cheaper when comparing the prices to Mr. John's and Doris Metropolitan.
I can agree that it's hard to make yourself go to the wank, but I did (several times)...and it's worth it.

I've tried it and I'm a fan of it. I tried a good portion of their menu out in the past. I wanted to try something different so that's why I picked the shrimp & mac. I usually go with one of their fish dishes (usually not fried) or a steak.

I've been for lunch and really liked the place. And a lot of people I know, with a lot of money, that live on the Westbank would prefer to have a fine dining option close to home as well.

O'Briens is pretty damn good.
I've been 3 or 4 times, and always enjoyed it.

Been many times with my parents. Food and drinks are on point. My dad told me he heard it was closing. Anyone else hear this?
