Going to be in NYC alone for a few days and could use recommendations on good dining experiences where I can walk up and sit at the bar without reservations. Within a 20 minute walk of Time Square would be preferable.

Thanks in advance.

I personally really enjoyed all the little hole in the walls while in China Town where me and the workers could barely understand each other.
But if that's not your thing then that is totally understandable.
Can't remember the names of any places exactly unfortunately.

X'ian Famous Foods has a branch near Times Square. Hunan food the spicy lamb noodle is fantastic.

Salvation Taco, John Dory, The Breslin, il Vagabondo, Gramercy Tavern (and really most Danny Meyer spots), The Dutch, Osteria Morini, Mad for Chicken at Turntable, and Balthazar will all scratch that itch. Note: not including places only within a 20 minute walk as that can mean different things to different people. NYC has an awesome subway system. Get around and away from times Square

There are some good Thai places on 9th avenue in the 30s/40s. That is only a couple avenues from TS.

Rare is a burger joint on like 45 and Lex, thats a 15 minute walk or so from TS

Trying to think of more but that should start it

My hotel was in Times Square last time I was in NYC. Wasn't too big a fan of Times Square, but I will say, walking back to the hotel slightly drunk, the falafel I got at a halal food cart was probably the second best thing I ate on my trip. Got it with some spicy sauce and some yogurt sauce over the top. The falafel was chopped up in a pita, but I had to eat it with a spoon.

It's the only thing I really crave when I think about going back to NYC.

Have not been to NY in years .. but always enjoyed Little Italy (around Mulberry St) and Chinatown for great food.
I always like Victor's Cuban Cafe.. I hear it is still there and good.

I have heard Billy Hong's closed incredible Lobster Rolls
I am told Luke's Lobster is awesome.

Walk down 5th Avenue to the Flatiron Building. On the right will be Eataly (23rd St and 5th Avenue). They have many bars to sit at, wine, chacutrie, pizza, pasta, desserts.. A complete sensory overload.
