Not being familiar with the whole Godzilla series, I had no idea what a blatant rip-off it was of the Mechagodzilla character. It looks just like it.

I have no idea what copyright laws restrict, but this has got to be pushing it.

yes the op has the title backwards, he is likely suffering from a huge hops hangover.

Toho is very aggressive in defending the Godzilla trademarks. They've sued a number of people who have written books on Godzilla/Monster movies and used trademarked names / images / fonts.

I looked up a few of the toho cases and it looked like most judges considered use of the name 'godzilla' and the 'zilla' suffix fair use, but drew the line at using image likeness and their trademarked font type.

Who even knew there was a trademarked godzilla font.

When they have to eventually remarket and re-packaged this beer, will they make it where it doesn't taste like shite?

Meh, this shite happens all the time. I don't think anything will come of it. Yes it's a play on the old Godzilla nemesis, and that is obvious. But it is not called Mechagodzilla. And it is not the exact likeness of mechagodzilla.

I don't see much coming of this.

I like Mechahopzilla when it's fresh and on tap. I don't know what's wrong with the canned version, but it's beyond awful.

Doubtful. Terrapin uses their turtle on their label. The Mechahopzilla design is basically Toho's design eating hops. Maybe nothing comes of it, but it does appear to be way more blatant than Terrapin's design.
