About 15 years ago when I lived in BAton Rouge, I had lunch at a nice restaurant with a fireplace. What is the name and is it still there? I remember thinking it was odd to have a nice restaurant on Florida Blvd

I think it was The Place Is it still there? It was pretty cool with a big fireplace, comfortable seating and good food.

No longer there. This was across the street from BRCC, no?

I think so. I could find nothing on it on Google. Any ideas what is there now?

Maybe "The Place"?
That's what I was thinking but it seems to me that it's been longer than 15 years since they closed. The big fireplace was in the front dining room. The building was a soul food buffet for a while, but I think that closed down too.

It was a catering hall for a while and I think it may be vacant now.

Could it have been Joey's or the Fox and Glove down Florida by Sharp Road.....

The Place was open until at least about '94 possibly a little longer. It changed to another similar restaurant before it became the buffet though.

Was it reopened as "D'Jon's The Place" or was it in a different location?

for a while that place was open as "d'jon's the place". It was kind of a southern food buffet. They had some good fried chicken. But, the place was kinda dimly lit and had some "old hotel carpet floors". It looks to be closed now.

Was Philipe's "The place"
then Dillons Catering, run by Don Gerald
then SYI (socially yours inc) guy opened Djon's
then the bums pissed on the carpet, tore up the place, and lived there for a few years.
then it was sold a few months ago. It's going to be an attorney's office complex.
I wanted to buy the building and use it for on site stuff, but it was horrible inside and out. Nothing like the good ole days.
