First weekend finally settled into the new house and I wanted a full day of grilling, smoking, and drinking entirely too much. All of which was a success.

Started the day off by going to adopt this old dude, wife couldn't resist him so welcome home Gumbo.

Then back home beer in hand, and food prep beginning. Sorry I drank crappy beer all day with the exception of 2 homebrew IPA's I stumbled upon in a box.

I've been wanting to try this brat tub thing from amazing ribs so that was lunch.

Started with the brats in 2 beers on the indirect side of the grill. 15 minutes per side since they are not fully submerged.

While that's doing it's thing. Get the remainder of the ingredients ready to go.
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup dijon mustard (I subbed in Carolina mustard style BBQ sauce)
Some hot sauce
2 tablespoons butter
2 whole onions
Also rubbed down the butt for later

Pull the brats out of the beer and grill over high heat as you normally would. Dump all the other ingredients into the beer pan and then put it over high heat.

Cook down into a gloopy mess and add the brats back in. Served on italian rolls.

Now for pit barrel porn
2 hours in

~180

Pulled

Served on kings hawaiian sliders, with remoulade slaw, tater salad, and some voodoo chips

Couple kitchen pics my wife would actually let me take. Still moving in so things are cluttered and not exactly presentable but I know the board loves kitchen pics.

I know it's missing some trim, cabinet guy is coming by this week to finish it up.

Ribs look more in danger of falling than butts IMO. I was nervous the first time I did ribs on the PBC.

Right after I took that picture I put the rack in and set it on the rack.

Once they get a certain temp the hook will just pull right through. Better safe than sorry.

Funny b/c I adopted this guy the day I moved into my new place

A few questions about your kitchen: what brand of appliances? The cabinets look amazing. Also, can you post some pics of the outdoor setup?

My gf (soon fiancé) have been looking at homes and trying to figure out the best setup an layout.

Congrats on Gumbo! He looks happy to have a home.

All appliances in the house are Maytag. The cabinets are black wenge and the counter tops are caramel crema.

I will take a bunch of pictures of everything this afternoon. Just have to ignore the clutter please

This is the perfect time to mention that moving sucks.

It does suck but I'm sure when Gumbo entered the house it was all worth it!

Absolutely.

We've had a tough road and he is certainly making it feel like home again. Our house sold quickly, so we lived with my MIL for 4 months while this house was being built. MIL's lawn guy left the gates open while we were on vacation and our yorkie ran away 1 week before we closed.

Giving him a home again was a welcome happiness.

Got some more pics yesterday. Excuse the clutter please.

Cabinets - Black Wenge
Floors - Jacobean
Granite - Caramel Crema
Appliances - Maytag (except for washer and dryer, Speed Queen FTW thanks Napoleon)
Sink - 30" Kohler farmhouse single bowl

First off, Gumbeaux got a bed. We went with Gumbeaux, if you're going to be cliche ride it all the way out.

This table will be gone soon. Building a farmhouse table once we get settled a little more.

Can't find any pics of the outdoor set up. House is 1.5 story over a full basement and 3 car garage. Back deck on main level is 12x16, poured patio underneath is probably 12x30 or so.

Built by NOLA native Jack Donovan. Great guy, and builds beautiful homes.
