I don't really want to drop $600 on a set of All-Clad stainless steel. But I do want a good set. The ones I have now are junk that I've just pieced together.

Recommendations?

Think these are any good?

Kosmo, go to a kitchen supply wholesale company in Columbus. Most are open to the public and you buy the stuff restaurants buy at the same price.

I have the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless and love it. You can usually find it on sale or use a 20% coupon at BBB.

I can get into a restaurant supply store for sure. Any brand I should be looking for?

So if I go to a restaurant supply place, it's not gonna come in a set. What are the essentials that I need.

I would worry more about the size of the pans than the brand. I use an 8qt stock, a 3qt sauce and a 13" fry far more than any of the others.

the problem with stainless steel is there are different alloys....18/10 is the best for cooking(Chromium and Nickel) but due to induction stovetops a lot of companies have changed the alloy mix....Cuisinart and Calphalon come to mind and no longer give the alloy rating. If you want a 18/10 alloy then as far as I know, All Clad is the only one giving this rating. And all stainless steel is not alike which is why you will see some stainless steel rust.

I have a really nice set from Sam's that I got 2 years ago. They are their store brand (Members Mark), non-stick, and ran about $250. I have been very pleased. They usually have several sets to choose from. I recommend checking them out.
