Apparently, today is National Baked Alaska Day.

This has always been one of my favorite "rare treat" desserts.

Is anyone else a fan?

I like it. Have you tried NOLA Ice Cream's baked alaska flavor? Surprisingly good...it does capture the "meringuey" taste of the original.

I don't think I've had baked Alaska since going to Antoine's some 12 years ago.

They serve a pretty good one on Carnival cruises.
