Just ate at Mugshots. First, I appreciate that the owners are young, and have the decor and menu dedicated to their friends. But the place feels built on a business model, and not built on good food.

I sat at the bar, got good service, and noticed a manager walking around checking on tables...a good sign. I got boneless wings as an app, half hot, half Caribbean jerk. They semmed to be pretty obviously "Sysco" type chicken chunks, were not oversauced, but were as average a you get. "Hot" was ok, "carribean jerk" tasted and looked like a spicy honey mustard. Got the "Reiss" burger...seemed like a "Sysco" patty product again. It was topped with a "fast food" egg and the same amount/quality of bacon that you'd get on a fast food burger. Bun was good, and I liked the beer battered "Sysco" fries. Got a pretty decent bloody Mary, and they had cold, cheap domestic draft beer.

Maybe other people have had a better food experience, more power to them. To me it was Walk-On's quality, premade food, but with a weaker atmosphere.

I don't think they are trying to be anything that they aren't. It's mentioned in this thread that the food is from Sysco and not made in house. They don't even cook a burger to your preference. It's bar food. It seems the MS and AL folks love it, but LA people have that tricky palette

Does any BR bars make their food in house?

Also, it's also only been open a few weeks, they are still probably trying to develop the atmosphere. The other locations cater to college kids and thrive off of the live music, cheap drinks, game day type atmosphere.

Anyone know if they have had live music yet or if they will?

I have always thought Chelsea's did an amazing job of offering a menu with really interesting dishes that were really good and very reasonably priced.

This is why I think it will fail miserably. It's way too far from campus. And the building is HUGE for what they are trying to do there.

The thing I love most about Chelsea's is that almost everything on the menu is something you can't get elsewhere... and not only that but everything is so different from the next. I don't like when I go somewhere and 5 things on the menu are basically the same thing..

Everything I've ever eaten at Chelsea's, I've never seen anywhere else.

Looks like they are bringing live music in, per their Facebook.

Mitch and Skaggs play Friday, they do a great set list. 90s rock, Jimmy Buffett, OAR, Old Crow Medicine Show, etc. They bring a good "college bar" theme.

My friends in American aquarium play mugshots in Hattiesburg on occasion.

Bingo.

The former Blockbuster on Highland/State would have been a nice spot for this, as would the always-empty Reginelli's location on Chimes St. The one I went to in Tuscaloosa was a legit bar, this one is an Applebees with more burger choices and higher rent.

Yes. Tomorrow night. Probably not your style.

I've heard AA in Hattiesburg before, they were pretty decent.
