I guess I'm different but I prefer total silence when watching a movie for the first time.

Do you get that in a regular theater?

Maybe the "dine in" theaters I've been to up here are different than the ones down there, because it's not like watching a movie in a busy restaurant.

This is key. I'm surprised so many people seem hostile to the idea.

I really don't understand so many people opposed to these theatres in Louisiana. The thread on the Movie/TV board a while back had people not liking the idea of them either. They have been very successful in other states for years and do a very good job of keeping the riff raff out. For that reason alone I thought people would love them.

You don't have the annoying little shits in there talking or playing on their phone the whole time. Heck most of these theatres are 18+ only after a certain time.

The movie watching experience is light years better than any Cinemark or AMC that's for sure.

He doesn't go to theaters, so his posts (and mine) in this thread are more hypothetical than anything I've seen a movie in a theater 4 times in the past 4 years.

I like the idea of these new theaters because they seem to attract a better clientele due to the cost. If it remains that way, it might convince me to see some movies outside of my house. Doubt I'll eat a meal there though.

I must admit mine are too. I rarely go to movies anymore. The caveat being that when I do, I generally only go to the dine-in places.

I just don't like not being in my PJ's with blankets and pillows.. not being able to pause..

Just not my thing. Never has been. Hated it as a kid too.

but it's kind of hard to mess up cheese dip.

You should try the beer cheese at Quaker steak and lube.
