I pretty much agree with everything posted...NeLa is not much on fine dining, but there are some damn good casual eats there...
in addition to everything listed, I used to enjoy Lea's Lunch room on Louisville Ave (get red beans or a ham sammich and a piece of pie) and for decent barbecue, head to danken trail...

I always make it a point to stop by to get a Trail Special with a double order of their beans when I go back home.
