Looks like Milford's finally opened up this week. Has anyone been yet? Considering it's the only Jewish deli Baton Rouge has, here's to hoping they meet expectations

I went last week and got a Reuben. It wasn't bad, but not the best I've had in BR. The Reuben, chips and tea was $15 and change. Unfortunately, I was hoping for more. I don't see going there too often.

The photos on their website didn't look too good. Nothing like Steins.

All of this hurts my heart.

And I'm guessing not in the good way, like after you eat jewish deli food?!
That is a shame however. Downtown BR doesn't need another in a long line of regular little deli shops. If they did high quality like Kenny & Ziggy's in Houston, they would bank. Heck, they would make bank if they did the quality like Katz's deli (Houston)

But remember it's baton rouge and not houston unfortunately...local restaurants here are way to mediocre overall..
Chains seem to dominate the scene....if you put Jason's deli next door to Milford s...Mitford wouldn't make it 6 months and I'm being generous..
The whole downtown resturant and bar scene is kinda boring...but people go because there is not much else going on...wish downtown baton rouge was much more like Austin texas...the downtown development district here does a good job keeping downtown boring...no wonder people head to new Orleans for fun....

Nothing says jewish deli like bacon and egg on a bagel or salami and cheese sandwiches.

You mean people drive and hour or less to access one of the most vibrant cities in the nation for food and nightlife?
I'm shocked.

No I would be shocked if they stayed in baton rouge...

Friend of mine ordered the "bagel and lox" this morning. The salmon was not only cooked, but cooked to medium well at minimum. And then chilled.
Such a sad day.
Such a sad day.

What's the best you've had?
I'm going to give Milford's a chance but this thread isn't encouraging.

Just went for lunch today. Got a Reuben and chips with a tea.
It was alright, but I thought it could have used more Russian dressing and sauerkraut.
A lot of the menu looked promising, but I may wait a few weeks before venturing back to let them work out the kinks.
