If you go to my link, you can get the black one for $48 with shipping if the coupon still works.

Is $46 worth it for a thermo? Was hoping it was gonna be a bit cheaper.

For me, it was definitely worth it.

Before the Maverick, when I would do an over night smoke, I would get up every few hours, walk outside, check the temp, make any adjustments, then crawl back in bed.

Now I keep the receiver on my nightstand, roll over once or twice a night to check the temp, and only get up if I'm outside the temp range. You can even set alarms for the temp range to wake you up if need be.

Try August2015 lol

Not a big fan of maverick though, thermoworks probes have better accuracy in the 150-250 range

I got mine today. Weird thing is, its clearly been used, the batteries were already installed, it smelled like smoke and the probes had burnt areas on them, clearly been used. I thought maybe that was why there were a deal, refurbished. I looked on the Amazon listing again, and condition says NEW. I tried to turn it on and got the LLL reading, usually means something is wrong with one of the probes. I am gonna return mine tomorrow and get them to send me a new one.

Anyone else get theirs and what condition was your in?

Mine does this sometimes. In all case with mine the temperature of the probe was too low to register. Once I put it in the cooker or meat, if not before, it always starts displaying the temperature.

I found this: "If the receiver and / or the transmitter display LLL or HHH instead of the probe temperature, wait
for probe to reach room temperature."

That being said, if you received a used unit, I would return it for a new one.

Yeah, I agree, I ordered a NEW unit, they didn't send me a new one. Returning today and expect the "New" one one Friday. I'll keep your tip in mind when I get the new one.

Thanks

Its cool, not that big a deal with Amazon's easy return policy. If that's the worst thing that happens to me today, I'll be just fine.

When you're setting the max temperature for the meat, can you only go up? That seems incredibly inconvenient.

I have to be missing something right?

For instance, if I want to reach 120 internal, and it's set at 140, do I have to go all the way up to the 500s, then have it start at the bottom to reach 120?
