Got a 50$ gift card to this place from my work. Thinking about bringing the gf there. I was wondering if they are known for anything in particular? I'm from new orleans going to LSU so I know nothing about the place. How much can I expect the meal to be ?
Appreciate any tips.
I did a search and the only thing that came up was a mention of mansur's as an anniversary spot. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse.

More than 50 bucks if you bring a date. That's me and my GFs go to place. 50 bucks will take a dent out of the paycheck, but it's not overly expensive. We both get the Mardi Gras Crab and the shrimp and corn soup with a Butterfinger Creme Brule for dessert. It's great. I alos drink so that's why my bill is always higher

If they have the charbroiled oysters there, order them.
It's a good restaurant overall

I don't know if they still have it at brunch on sunday, but when I was in school they had a super legit grillades over cream cheese grits. They were awesome.

I might be confusing them with another restaurant but I think they have a really good cedar plank redfish dish that is on special sometimes.

Nope. You are correct, sir!

Cedar roasted redfish is my favorite entree hands down. Like someone else said, the grits and grillades is pretty good too. I also get the charbroiled oysters for an app and the cream of brie and crabmeat soup along with my entree. Supposedly they have a good duck dish too.
One of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge.

I looked at the menu on their site and this stood out to me as what I'd probably get as my entree.
I also expected to spend another 50 or so on top of the $50 gift card, more if we have wine etc.
Thanks for the tips guys, appreciate

You can eat at a table in the bar if you like. The oysters are chargrilled rather than charbroiled. They're delicious and I can make a meal off a dozen with the bread. Don't skip having these if you're going there.
The cedar plank redfish is very good. The visiting fish is also usually good. I had haddock there the last time I went and it was very very good.
They make a heck of a brandy alexander that I like to get for dessert.
I don't care for the crab and brie soup. Too heavy for the crab for me and too much brie.
There are some seafood apps that I don't find too appealing either.

Mansur's is about my fave....haven't been in a while.
Duck is good, I usually get the oysters appetizer, creme brulee, lettuce wedge.
Everything is really good though.

Like everyone else said, get the oysters, they're really good. You'll want to mop up the butter oil with some bread too.
I say try the Brie and crab soup if you've never had it. Some think the cheese is a bit over powering but most like it. I believe they've won an award or two for the soup.
Entre wise, go with the duck. They've definitely won awards for the duck mansur and personally, I think it's the best dish on the menu. It's definitely the most consistent thing they do, and they've been doing it for a long time.
They also make their cheese cakes in house. THere's one with some swirl in it (dont' remember the name exactly) and it's the best one. They'll bring out a dessert plate and you can see all the deserts. They do a good flan too.
