that place sure has gone downhill..

We hadn't gone there in years, because of the price vs. quality. Last time we ate there, it was damn near $100 before tip. We ate at Peche last week, stuffed ourselves and had drinks and it was only slightly more than that. Plus, last time my wife went there was for a bachelorette party. The server spilled a drink on her and just said "Sorry." Those things happen, but there was no offer of a free drink or to pay for getting her dress cleaned.

Back on track, check out Beausoleil or Ruffino's.

Ruffino's.

I've heard the 45-day aged steak (off-menu item--heard they only have about 5 available per night) is incredible.

do what now? they have someone playing piano every night and the tables are all candle lit.. that's casual to you?

Mansur's is too bright in lighting--just didn't feel like it was a very intimate setting. Only went once and sat in the room all the way to the right (from the hostess stand)--maybe that's different than the rest of it

I thought something similar about the name. Have no idea behind the "Jolie" part. I get the "Pearl" of course, but Jolie Pearl is a terrible name.

Jolie Pearl is the original name of the building.
Long before the oyster bar was even a thought.

It is still a shitty name. Nobody cares that the building was named that. If you or anyone else tells me it is a great name again I will not go there out of principle.
