I have a meeting in Pineville tomorrow and I've been put in charge of finding somewhere for lunch.

Any type of food. Nothing too formal, but not a chain if possible. They prefer to go somewhere in Pineville, but we will go to Alexandria if we have to.

Any suggestions?

There is nothing in Pineville.

Go to Spirits if you just want a atmosphere and drinks and sometimes decent food.

The Cottage is a nice lunch spot.

Verona and Bellinos are both ok Italian places.

Options limited in Pineville. They have a greek place thats actually pretty good:

Jeruselem Mediterranean : Ball Hwy : Pretty good greek/medit grub

Po Boy Express : Military Hwy : Nothing special, but decent poboys

Alexandria:

Word of Mouth : Downtown Alex : Small, locally owned sandwich/wraps/soup/lunch specials

Spirits : Jackson/Texas St :
Sports Bar/Grill : Poboys & Salads are good

Lil Cajun House : Strip Center by Mall... Actually has good fried seafood

1921 Jackson : Coffee Shop w good lunch special/salads

I highly recommend Word of Mouth. Its downtown and only a couple minutes from P'Ville

years ago I use to eat at Lee J's on the levee - 208 Main Street Pineville . They've closed but Southern Creations (new owners) remodeled the bldg and has a great lunch buffet for $10.95. After tax, title, license, and tip it will cost you $15.

located 1 block from the River on Main St. or if coming from Alex take the Jackson Street Ext bridge to P-ville

Thanks, everyone.

I lived in Pineville during grad school, but that was 13 years ago. I didn't remember there being much of anything there.

I'll look into the places you all suggested.

This is so wrong as to be a lie.

The old Lee Js is open under new management. Foot of the jackson/main Street bridge.

Pappa Ts on 28 west is great.

Lots of stuff at Kingsville Salmon wouldn't know about because he's too busy shitting on Cenla to pay attention.

I generally take up for Cenla on this board

In Pineville I would go to Pappa Ts or Outlaws

In Alexandria, Cajun Landing, Oriental Wok, Spirits, The Cottage, Sombreros, El Paso, Robbie Gs, Lou and Lauras, Outlaws BBQ, Word of Mouth, Critics Choice, Embers, Wildwood Pizza

I bolded my choices, Embers would be my pick if I was coming in from Pineville. Just hop over bridge and pull in.

The Cottage has a great burger...the rest is terrible.

I included it on my list because so many people like it I figure I must be wrong.

Philly cheesesteak or chicken grinder from Critic's Choice. They have two locations, one of which is downtown. Also, Spirits is horrible.

Oh, and if I remember correctly Critics Choice does not take AMEX. May want to call ahead if this is a business deal and you want to AMEX it.

Seeing who has posted that it's horrible, I'm going to have to go more often.

I like Spirits for its beer selection and atmosphere. Maybe I just need to venture out from the burgers

But if you can't get a burger right, I have a hard time trusting you with anything else.

I have never had a bad burger at Spirits, not even doing the prove a point argue on the internet thing.

My go to for lunch is the salmon though. I do think they screwed up the brussel sprout side, they used to be the best side in town. Now they suck.

And if you got about 1200 calories to spare, get the crawfish beignets.

Yeah, I think you haven't been since they changed how they do them. They actually ask you how you want them cooked. Medium is excellent.

Before that, while not the greatest, still a decent burger.

The Fried soft shell crab BLnoT is outstanding as is the lemon chicken pasta. The chicken salad wrap as boring as it sounds is really good.

That is why they stopped doing em, they burned too many. Now they serve em boiled with boiled bacon (I am sure this is not how it is done, but that is what the end product looks like)
