One of the guys I work with is friends with Lola Pokorny, owner of Lola's in both Las Vegas and in Summerlin. She was at her Summerlin location and so we went there. She took care of us and we visited her the entire time we were there. She's from New Orleans and also lived in Monroe for a while.

She served us charbroiled oysters, bronzed (blackened) catfish and grits, shrimp creole, crawfish etouffee, gumbo, crawpuppies, bananas foster and coffee with a hint of chicory.

Her place was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives three years ago. LINK

Now, I realize I was in Vegas and a long way from Louisiana, but she has got it down all the way having her French bread shipped in from Leidenheimer in New Orleans.

Here's Lola: it was nice spending the evening with her. A really great hostess! Highly recommend if you're in Vegas and can get out and about.

Good for her, she looks legit (just watched your link), but when I travel, I do not go to Louisiana restaurants (even if it is owned by a LA native).

Edit***

I just realized I wasted this post for my 8000th post. Oh well, gotta wait for 9000 for something spectacular.

This is exactly what I told her. I have learned the hard way that finding food as good as I can cook myself or find in Louisiana is like finding a needle in a haystack, so I told her that I quit going to places like hers. I was there because my buddy, who lives in L.A., likes her tits (as well as her cooking ).

The food was pretty darn authentic, although I'd make a few tweaks on the gumbo and etouffee. The rest was outstanding.

No, I asked her about that. She said the insurance cost to add tableside flambe was too costly. She has to do it in the kitchen.

The crawfish boil ...

She put a stick of butter in it "to help them peel."

She said you "don't eat the celery and onions, that's just for seasoning."

She then boiled the crawfish for EIGHT MINUTES.

After taking them out, she sprinkled additional dry crab boil on the outside of the crawfish.

Nothing legit about any of this.
