Where can I get live crawfish in Lafayette on a Sunday Morning before noon? I'm relatively new to the area, and I am not familiar with live crawfish places. If I'm only limited to get them on Saturday, any suggestions to where I should buy them? Thanks in advance.

Hanks Crawfish right next door in Judice. Miss Nancy is the owner and you can pick them up Sunday mornings.

You can order field run, or for a little more $, you can get the graded select.

When fisherman who run cages in rice fields dump their cages you get whatever they dumping in the sack, they aren't graded.

I assumed you called her. Curious, did you order the field run or select?

The way I do it if its people coming over that I like, I order select. On the other and, its dead beats who never invite me to shite, then it field run 100%.

If those two fail you, try Chez Francois. Not the cheapest, so use if the others don't work out.

I called Hank's yesterday to see what time they opened to pick up Sunday. I didn't have an exact number of pounds and thought I could call today with no problems. Well, I'm shite out of luck. They said they are not taking any more orders for the weekend, and I would have to call Sunday to see if they have any left.

I checked out Chez Francois and didn't see too many good things about that place. I'm willing to drive to Abbeville, Broussard...anywhere within 20-30 minutes of Lafayette...to pick up 2 sacks Sunday morning. I'm just afraid if I get the sacks on Saturday, I'm going to kill most of them.

Any other suggestions?

They sell out often because they provide a good product - that and about 75% of Lafayette boils crawfish on weekends. If you get some on Saturday to cook Sunday, put the sacks in an ice chest in the shade and leave top cracked open a few inches. Put a bag of ice on top and make sure the plug is open so as the ice melts it will drain from ice chest. Your crawfish should be fine for Sunday.

Now leave me alone...

Chez Francois is not a bad place. Like said earlier, the price may not be the best, but they have a large stock and are open sunday morning.

Chez Francois opens at 10:00 on Sunday and is your best bet for fresh crawfish in Lafayette. The crawfish you buy from them are graded and washed. It's my go to place for live crawfish.

Crawfish are too difficult to store overnight without a cooler. You can do it with large ice chests and a small amount of ice, but you will lose some.

Got 2 sacks (1 medium and 1 large) for $102 at Chez Francois. They were nice size, don't recall any dead ones, and most of the tails weren't as hard as shite as you would expect this time of year. Didn't weigh them, but they were probably 35lbs/sack, so about $1.46/lb. I would go back. Thanks for the suggestions.

D & T is in abbeville. May be a little out your way but they are usually pretty cheap.
