I visited an old school fish market in Northern California a few weeks ago and the guy had some canned fish for sale. It was expensive ($7 for the same size can you buy tuna in) but I got some smoked salmon, king salmon, albacore, and smoked albacore. So far I tried the smoked salmon and it was awesome.

Additionally, to up my protein, I've been eating sardines. I've had two brands, the cheapest (chicken of the sea) and the next level up (brunswick). Brunswick's were noticeable better and had a good taste. There are some others at the store that go up to $5 plus that I'll try next time.

What are some good brands of canned fish to get? Do you eat it straight up or make something with it?

The Spanish canned seafood is very good but very expensive. There is a restaurant in Dallas that serves it.

Yes. Had the baby octopus and razor clams the other day. Made a very good seafood salad app.

I really enjoy these:

My grocer had some canned mackerel on close out. I bought what they had left and loved it. Unfortunately, I can't find it any more and I'm not sure what brand it was.

I tried the smoked kippers. I didn't like them.

Instead of sardines in a can, see if you can find boquerones anywhere. Delicious and fresh tasting, instead of being super salty and fishy as well.

I eat the cheap chicken of the sea tuna in water almost daily. Mix it with half an avocado to mask the taste of it. All for the protein, bro.

I eat canned fish probably 4 times a week. Have a can of Beach Cliff sardines in mustard in my desk right now.

King Oscar is a little treat for me, but I can't justify eating it all the time.

Good sardines like King Oscar are neither fishy nor salty.

ETA: I go for bone in. Good calcium.

Yeah those King Oscar sardines are pricy. Who does that guy think he is?

He apparently thinks he is royalty. But Norway and Sweden don't count.
