This place sucks. They don't even have menus and the service isn't any good. Pies are overrated too. If you like ham sandwiches you may like this place, but I can make that shite at home.

Yea. And the one in Monroe is owned by a got damn communist. Or used to be anyway. I don't like ham sandwiches enough to treat with a communist.

I can't make a banana pie like theirs and I can get a ham sandwich when stopping for the banana pie.

They do fried chicken pretty well and I don't know anywhere else I can get a fresh blackberry pie.

And it's just an old diner. It's not pretending to be anything more.

I only go to the one in Lecompte.

Lea's was very good 40 years ago when Lea (a Col Sanders look-a-like) was still running the place near Alexandria. He's been dead a long time. I haven't been there since.

I love the ham sandwiches. They taste the same today as they did when we'd stop there on trips as a child. I love the pies. When blueberries are in season, that pie is delicious.

It's an old diner in a little town. If you're expecting 5 star service, go elsewhere. I think it's a jewel for what it is.

It's a lunchroom. Who has a menu in a lunchroom.

They are living off of nostalgia and nothing else. It's a goddamn ham sandwich, people treat it like it's a must-stop on the Louisiana culinary trail. And you can get a better pie at Strawn's.

I'm not trying to go to Arkansas for pie.

I agree, I was very underwhelmed by their pies. Their ham sandwich is good, though.

Maybe they should realize that people not from that shithole town stop in and don't know what they serve. Didn't help that our waitress was terrible too.

Maybe it isn't the type of place for picky eaters.

Been serving the same style food for decades.

There is a Burger King on I-49 in that area and I'm sure they have menus. Probably some damn good service too. May want to give it a shot.

I read this originally as, "Les is the most overrated..."
Thought I was on the rant

Their pecan pie is good but overly sweet.

Now, their cherry pie is almost custard like. Incredibly good.

Screw everything else they have.

Does not compute

I think people that think Lea's is overrated have a skewed idea of what the place is. The place is as low brow as it comes, and puts out a solid product. I don't see how that can be construed as overrated, but I guess some people just like to complain.

I've not been impressed by Strawn's. I like Lea's pretty well but it can be steep. I bought 3 pecan pies for $60 there a few years ago.

I don't recall what I pay for the banana but pecan prices are very high for a couple of reasons. This year all the rain in the spring knocked blooms off and I've heard the pecan crop is down like 80%. Also China is buying up as many as they can which is driving the cost up.

And it's not like you can just get into pecan farming in a hurry.
