Went today for lunch. Started out with a basket of mini biscuits. They were really good, so much so that I had to order another basket. For an app I had the jumbo crab claws. They were huge and fresh and came in a cast-iron skillet in a garlicky/lemony sauce. Very tasty, but on the expensive side ($17). I had the turtle soup, which wasn't very good at all. Lacked the zip and depth of a quality turtle soup. For my entree I had the chicken and waffle. Very meh, plain, average, unimaginative. Other member of the dining part had the shrimp grillades over grits with charred chilis, which consisted of 4 large butterflied shrimp in a spicy sauce. Dish was way too salty and almost inedible. Others ordered salads (Caesar and bleu cheese wedge) and really enjoyed them.

Overall, I doubt I'd go back. Entrees were very disappointing, especially for the price.

I've wanted to go on to this place but every review I see on this board has been negative.

I was excited when it first opened and really wanted to try it, but every time I pass it I remember these reviews and don't stop. Plus Ruffino's is across the stree and despite what some one this board say, I enjoy Ruffino's and I've only had good meals there.

Las Palmas and Sonic are also close and both have better meals than creole

Lol, that bad? I knew it wasn't worth the price but didn't think it was that poor.

If Le Creole charged half as much, dropped some of their pretentiousness, and had better service...it would be a pretty good restaurant.

I haven't been yet but it's pretty disheartening that one of the few ambitious restaurants in BR sucks

Yeah, and I would really like to stand up for it but I just can't. The execution is pretty bad, but I also don't think it is very fair to compare what Ruffino's does and La Creole "attempts" to pull off as being comparable. They just aren't.

I think the price is fair for what they are attempting to pull off, or what i think they would like to do. They just aren't pulling it off.

Been there once and wont go back.

I ordered shrimp and grits and was served shrimp etouffee over some type of grit patty.

And they served me an old fashion, which was shaken and served in a martini glass.

I've yet to try the crab cakes at Le Creole...I'd go there just for those.

Best meal deal in BR besides the vaunted Cup & a Half.

Stabiler needs to stick to catering. But apparently he's making a living with it and the Little Villages that blow as well.
