If you're in town this w/e Saturday 10-3-15, the Grand Boucherie is happening in St. Martinville. 11am - midnight

Acadian Village and/or Vermillionville are both great places where you can witness how life was for the early Cajun settlers

Lake Martin Rookery is also truly unique as enjoy the birds and alligators while sitting down and eating boudin & cracklins

what about a swamp tour near Henderson. Great weather and you can do lunch at Poche's nearby

St John Cathedral is pretty magnificent with its giant oak ... Johnson's Boucaniere, French Press, and downtown are just blocks away

the Tabasco Plantation tour is pretty nice and they also have a restaurant for good groceries.

get in touch with me and I'll meet you somewhere and hook your friends up with some free Cajun Seasoning

Before or after lunch at Glenda's, go to Lake Martin and get a swamp tour with either Norbert LeBlanc (he'll give everybody a shot of moonshine) or Cajun Country Swamp Tours (either Sean or Butch will be the guides).

Saturday morning: Cafe des Amis in Breaux Bridge for Zydeco breakfast. Live music, dancing, and good food.

Even though I don't care for Randol's (because I don't like the owner), visitors do seem to enjoy it. Which nights will you be going out? Sunday nights often have college/high school age kids swing dancing to zydeco which is fun to watch.

I prefer to dance at Pont Breaux's in Breaux Bridge, but you never know what kind of crowd will be there. Sometimes enough locals dancing to make it fun to watch, sometimes not.

Somebody else mentioned Whiskey River. It's usually hopping on Sunday afternoons.

Sunday afternoons from 1:00 - 4:00 there is live music and dancing at Vermilionville. I've never been when there wasn't a good crowd of people dancing. Cajun and Zydeco bands alternate each Sunday. Plus, you can have lunch there before dancing. And walk through the village if you so desire.

GotBlaze, for some reason I hadn't seen your post when I submitted mine. Looks like we had some similar recommendations.

Take them to Richard's (ree-shards) in Abbeville for some boiled crabs, go early since they may sell out of the nice ones. That's about as submersed in Cajun country as you'll ever get. Stop by Heberts on the way and show them all of the yummy 'specialty meats'. Hell a few dozen oysters at Shucks on the way as well, just so they can laugh their asses off at how the waitresses talk.

I second going to abbeville. It's a nice Cajun town with some neat houses and a relatively well kept downtown. There are 4 seafood restaurants right by the vermilion River to choose from. Definitely recommend checking the place out.. It's about 20-30 minutes from Lafayette.
