Went there today for lunch and got the enchilada combo. The enchiladas were on par with some other good places I've been to and the rice and beans were very good. I'm definitely going back to try out some other menu items and the beef tongue tacos in particular. the place was recommended on here for its authentic food and i got a good vibe from it today. check it out if you havent been.

Best Mexican in Lafayette. Agave ain't worthy to lace LaPagua's sandals.

We went last night and it was an underwhelming experience to say the least. Both bathrooms were out of order so we had to walk down to Louisiana Poboys to use the bathroom/wash our hands. It was ~45 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our food. I've never waited that long at any Mexican restaurant. When we got our food, one person got the wrong order and had to wait another 10 minutes for their food.

The food was delicious, but I'm not returning.

My lone experience was this...

I had a half hour for lunch so I called in my order to go. Dude said ten minutes. I was running behind and arrived in twenty. It wasn't until I arrived when they began my order which took another fifteen minutes for a total of 35 minutes after I called. There was just one table occupied at the time too. Got back from my lunch break late and hungry.

I got lengua (beef tongue tacos) and the beef is cubed sort of like ham.

Most overrated Mexican in Lafayette. If you like the enchiladas there, you must love Patio TV dinners

Same reason a place like social does.

Bunch of hometown heroes whose idea of a vacation is parking the trailer down at Cajun palms

Haven't had anything better since they've never left the state

I've had better. Lucy's in NM. A place in Snyder, TX that was excellent, would go once a week when working out of there.

However, when talking about Mexican in Lafayette/Acadiana, La Pagua is about the best it gets, IMO.

Wife and I have only eaten there twice. Enjoyed the entrees we ordered both times.

I'll say the salsa was a bit disappointing, but I really can't think of a place in Lafayette where I think the salsa is great. shite, I liked Ninfa's salsa the best before they closed shop.

But to put in perspective, these tacos I just had from the taco truck by West Alabama Icehouse in Houston would be a top-notch Mexican dish in Lafayette. They could charge more than $2 a pop over there.

Remember the flash in the pan Las Palmas which was previously in the Mellow Mushroom building? I never did eat at that location. Wonder why it was so short lived.

MM owners bought that building for $800K and signed a much more affordable long term lease with The Grand (land owner)
