kegging homebrew

I know another topic,
So my wife is tired of hearing me bitching about bottling and what I can do to make it better.
So for V-day she ordered me a 3 faucet door kit and told me to get the move on and get what else I need.
So I need 3 - 5 gal kegs and CO2 bottle and proper hosing.
So do I go with Ball Lock or Pin Lock? is there a noticable difference since I dont have any tubing or connections yet?
Should I try used first or just order new kegs?
I need guidence here.
Next question is Beezers? Can I just use my upright garage fridge?

I think Ball locks are preferred/more common.
Used Kegs are fine. Might have to put new seals and gaskets but NBD.

Used re-conditioned ball-lock kegs.
An upright garage fridge would work fine.
It's an expensive process at first, but once you have it all going it's cheap and easy.

Im about to convert a mini fridge i got off craigslist for $30

I really don't mind bottling. I try to clean a few (20) at a time and keep ahead. Right now, I have about 100 bottles cleaned and ready to bake in the oven to sterilize. Plus, I have about 5 different brews in bottles in the fridge right now. If I kegged, I would end up having to buy a bunch of kegs and find room for them.

I definitely feel like I'll do a little bit of both when I switch that way.
I travel with beer a lot though it seems.

Find a source of one or the other and buy as many as you'll need. The only real differences are that pin locks tend to be slightly shorter and fatter than the ball locks. Get threaded fittings for your QDs and you can easily swap between the two types (and also with a sankey tap if you'd like).

Buy used, and then replace all of the gaskets (unless the source came with new gaskets installed).
Adventures in Homebrewing is where I bought all of my kegs, though the prices have doubled in the time since I bought mine.

Keg Cowboy, down in Houston, has used kegs starting at about 40 bucks.
