Dad volunteers at a beer tent and got the scoop. Larger "premium" beers will be $8 (think 16oz blue moon), and $4 cokes. He said people often buy a case at a time. $144 - ouch!

I'll still be out there, but will be doing more "pregaming" this year.

Just insane.

And they will use the same excuse sports and entertainment venues use....it cuts down on binge drinking

They are killing us. We work our arse off at a beer booth to raise money for kids school. The jump from $4 to $5 sucked since we make most of money in tips.
Now the assholes are also requiring us to have ID checkers out front and we have to go last minute to get several people certified through some kind of responsible vendor program.

That, and now they make you check everyone, every time, even the 60-year old guy who's bought 5 beers from you throughout the day. It slows things down and doesn't go over well with customers who haven't been carded since the disco era and don't always have ID on them.

I don't drink at jazzfest much anymore. Beer and several hours of direct sunshine just doesn't appeal to me. If I feel the need to get high, there are alternatives.

Yea, the stipulations that get put on you in Nola is a racket. The responsible vendors program has been in place for years. I'm surprised it hasn't been required before. I suppose the permit for the event will cover the parish requirements.

I will never go to jazz fest again. They can take their high priced beer with the hot weather and shove it! If I want to hear the chili peppers and drink I'll just pull up my pandora app with a case and enjoy

I mean, how many beers do you need to drink?

When I realized I didn't need alcohol to have a good time, I stopped caring about things like this.

One or two beers should be enough for anybody.

rosemint tea and a one hitter for me
beer at the fest just slows me down and takes up valuable stomach space

I kinda thought the same thing when I first started working with our group. But the fact that we have to have a person on each shift with the certification is what is causing headaches for us.
